Belle Isle Casino Wedding of Kelly and Adam

Friday, December 27th, 2019

I was so happy and excited for Kelly when Adam proposed to her during a vacation on the east coast. Having known both of them, I couldn’t imagine a better partner for each of them. A few weeks later, Adam called me and gave me one of the nicest compliments a photographer can hear. “The only thing Kelly must have for her wedding is you as her photographer. I looked at your work and I completely agree.” With that, we got to work. Adam and Kelly were having a completely unique Belle Isle Casino wedding, filled with personal touches – from an eclectic menu to a jukebox as their DJ to honor Adam’s dad. Spoiler alert: it was the perfect day.

Adam and Kelly started their wedding day at the Siren Hotel, a boutique hotel located in downtown Detroit. I shot there before and loved the unique elements of the hotel that gave wedding prep a little more personality. While Kelly was finishing up her hair and make up, we worked with Adam as he prepped for his big day.

Soon enough, Kelly was ready to step into her dress and become a bride. I loved how the decor in her room complimented her vintage-inspired, elegant wedding dress. The space and lighting in the hotel totally inspired me. It was soft, elegant, and timeless. Kelly was the perfect bride to photograph to capture that feeling.

Prior to their Belle Isle Casino wedding, Kelly and Adam share a first look at the Belle Isle Fountain. Adam was patiently waiting and excited to see Kelly for the first time. Their first look was filled with a lot of smiles and laughter.

After several minutes of Adam and Kelly enjoying each other’s presence for the first time on their wedding day, it was time to take some photos around the island.

I love this series of photos. It is so telling of Adam and Kelly – loving, protective, supportive, and fun.

After the fountain, we stopped by the Casino for some photos. Later, we would be celebrating there with family and friends.

The bridal party joined us at the Casino for some photos before we all left for their reception in Ann Arbor. On our way out of the city, we stopped at one more spot in Detroit for some photos of just Adam and Kelly.

When we arrived in Ann Arbor, where part of Adam and Kelly’s story takes place, Kelly’s dad was waiting to see his daughter for the first time.

The University of Michigan has so many beautiful spots to use as a background that we decided to mix things up and take some family formals outside of the church.

After the ceremony, it was time to celebrate with their Belle Isle Casino wedding reception. Guests donned black attire, adding to the elegant feel of one of Detroit’s oldest and most classy landmarks. Champagne helped the guests toast the couple as family and friends spoke on their behalf. The speeches were part honorary, part hilarious and 100% genuine.

After dinner, Adam and Kelly opened up the dance floor. Guests mingled and roamed throughout the Casino as the festivities lasted late into the night.

As the evening came to a close, we stepped outside for one last shot to commemorate their wedding.

Special thanks to Kate McClellan from Purple Clover Events who helped transform the Casino into Adam and Kelly’s vision. The venue was beautiful and the reception went by flawlessly with your help.
