Sycamore Hills Wedding and Reception in Macomb

Sycamore Hills Wedding

A few years ago, I sat down at the wedding reception for Andrew and Katie. The guest next to me was super friendly and looking over my shoulder as I was editing their same day slideshow.  (Sometimes I feel like the seat next to me is the best seat in the house for a curious guest because they get to see and sneak peek of the photos and hear about all of the behind the scenes moments.)  “Oh my god!  I love that one” and “Oooh!  How did you do that?”  We ended up talking a lot about photography over that dinner.  She was so friendly and curious that, once I knew I got all the shots I needed for the night, I asked her if she would like to try shooting some of the open dance floor.  You would have thought I gave her a winning lottery ticket.  That small act kicked off a lasting friendship between Kristi and I.  She went on to assist me on a wedding or two and support my work with each photo I posted online.

A few years later, I saw a proposal photo of her, at mid ice at Joe Louis Arena.  “Congratulations!  How did I miss this?  Best wishes” I said.  A few minutes later, I received a text.  “It JUST happened!  I will call you.”  Then, I got the greatest compliment a photographer can receive, Kristi asked my availability for 2018 and booked we wedding around it.  I am still humbled.

Kristi and Brandon had a Sycamore Hills wedding.  Their prep, ceremony, and reception all took place at this beautiful golf course.  Below are some of my favorite images and moments from their day.  Enjoy!

Fall in Michigan is unpredictable.  Sometimes it lasts a month, sometimes it seems like it lasts a weekend.  Kristi and Brandon had an overcast day with on and off drizzle.  Luckily, the leaves were at full color and the rain held off just long enough for us to run outside and snap some beautiful photos of their Sycamore Hills wedding.

Kristi and Brandon decided to keep their wedding day traditional with no first look.  Once Kristi’s formals were done, Brandon arrived at Sycamore Hills.  With some help from his sister, he got ready and joined his groomsmen for some photos.  By this point, it was raining.  Luckily, the guys were still totally cool and supportive of my vision and swapped umbrellas and worked quick while I snapped the shots.

Next, it was time to get married!

Literally, everyone was all smiles during the ceremony.

After the ceremony, we ran outside one more time to capture photos of the bride and groom together.  Despite the rain, I couldn’t have asked for a more picturesque day.  The colors for their Sycamore Hills wedding were just gorgeous and the perfect backdrop for their day.

While driving back to meet up with their bridal party, I saw the tiniest little hill with a vibrant tree in the background.  We didn’t really have the time to shoot, but it was too beautiful to pass up.  Seeing the phots now, I am so glad we stopped.

Next, it was time to party!  With some heartfelt stories and warm wishes, their reception kicked off.

Towards the end of their reception, the rain lightened up just enough to head outside for one last shot to end the night and round out their wedding album.

Thank you again Kristi for allowing me to be a part of your wedding day.  I am so glad you were my table buddy at that wedding.  I love being part of your and Brandon’s story.
