1-year anniversary shoot van hoosen

1-Year Anniversary Shoot | Van Hoosen | Sweet Eats by Erin

Friday, July 28th, 2017

About two months ago, Sam emailed me and shared an idea with me: she wanted to do a 1-year anniversary shoot with Matt, revisiting where they did their first look, recreate the gourmet cupcakes they ate, and share a bottle of champagne and laughs as they celebrate their first year of marriage.  I loved it!  I was immediately on board with the idea.  I had done it once before, but for a couple whose wedding I didn’t shoot.  We had a blast then, but since I wasn’t at the wedding, I didn’t have that shared connection and memories with them.  With the date set and golden hour approaching, we set off for a hidden walking trail near Oakland University’s campus where the first saw each other on their wedding day.  Their original first look was a tear-jerker all around with some goofy laughter sprinkled in, compliments of Matt.  One year later, not much has changed except it was even more laughter.  For their wedding day, Sam made a book, documenting all of their years together.  For their 1-year anniversary shoot, she made a similar book documenting their first year of marriage together.

Following the visit to their first look site, we headed over to Van Hoosen Museum in Rochester to share some wedding day treats under the golden hour sun.

Matt forgot how good the cupcakes were and celebrated their goodness, praising the cupcake gods.  Actually, the cupcake goddess is Sweet Eats by Erin and the cookie dough cupcake is to die for.

Overall the shoot was a success  Gorgeous photos were created, I got to hang out with an amazing couple and do what we do best – create memories and share laughs.  Special thanks to Sam for the idea; I think I am going to incorporate this shoot in my packages from now on.
