This year, I have had several couples inquire about shooting their engagement sessions or weddings around Ann Arbor. U of M and the Ann Arbor area has so many beautiful and unique locations that cater to everyone’s wishes – nature, architecture, urban, rustic, chic, fun…you name it. When clients ask about shooting their Ann Arbor wedding, I often times refer back to Mary and Vince’s wedding. It was a picturesque wedding; we explored the gems of the city while family and friends surrounded and celebrated their love and marriage. The First Look took place at the University of Michigan’s Law Quad. It was by far, the longest and most emotional First Look I have witnessed. Nothing could have broken Vince’s embrace and attention to Mary. He kissed, hugged, embraced, laughed with, and celebrated Mary. After a short photo session around the Law Quad, her bridal party consisting of her five sisters and sister-in-law, joined along with the groomsmen for some formals of everyone. Ridiculousness ensued and the girls quickly took control of the shoot and created their own fun as only sisters could do. I have never seen a veil provide so much enjoyment. The veil and dress have a unique story; both came from The Bride’s Project, a nonprofit organization that helps raise money to help families touched by cancer. While the dress was budget-friendly, you would never guess looking at it.
I know I have said it many times before, but wedding days like Vince and Mary’s prove it to be true – the best part about photography is the people you meet. Years ago, I photographed Mary’s sister’s wedding. Since then, I have been there to document three sisters’ weddings. What started as a one-day wedding has grown into a relationship with a wonderful family who continues to grow. A wedding taking place at the University of Michigan’s Law Quad in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
