Detroit’s Colony Club Wedding

Kaitlin and Edmund were married on December 29, 2024, at a beautiful ceremony and celebration attended by their closest family and friends. We felt incredibly fortunate to be part of and document this special day. From beginning to end, it was a memorable occasion filled with love, laughter, and unstoppable rain. However, the weather did not dampen Edmund and Kaitlin’s spirits or smiles. Thankfully, they were troopers, and this Detroit’s Colony Club wedding was a success!

We met Kaitlin and Edmund in Detroit at the DoubleTree Suites and quickly began preparing with their family and friends. I joined Kaitlin while Brian connected with Edmund. Kaitlin’s suite was filled with family and bridesmaids, and their dog, Lucy, was also present. Lucy wore matching pajamas alongside the bridesmaids and sported a pink collar adorned with an engagement charm that Edmund had given her when he proposed. In the bustling environment, Lucy remained calm, simply watching her mom as she prepared for her big day.

Although Edmund missed Lucy, he remained calm and prepared for the big day. He got ready with the help of his parents for the final touches. After Edmund’s portraits were taken, we gathered for the moment when Edmund and Kaitlin would finally see each other and exchange their vows.

Their first look and vow exchange were full of emotion. The moment they locked eyes, the world around them seemed to disappear, and you could practically see their nervousness dissipate. Kaitlin’s eyes sparkled with joy, and a radiant smile broke across her face while Edmund’s expression softened with relief and happiness. In that instant, their love shone brightly, easing the butterflies in their stomachs and allowing them to savor the moment together. The exchange of their vows was equally heartfelt, filled with promises and declarations that reflected their deep connection. Each word exchanged was laced with sincerity, enhancing the emotional atmosphere and marking the beginning of their lifelong journey together.

Then we were off into the city, dodging the raindrops and capturing some beautiful portraits of the two of them. Lucy joined us, too, and together, this charming family of three effortlessly resembled a scene straight out of a magazine cover. Their love and connection radiated beautifully against the backdrop of the city’s architecture.

Then, the moment had finally arrived for their much-anticipated ceremony at St. Mary’s Basilica. The atmosphere was charged with emotion as family and friends gathered to witness this sacred occasion. Traditional elements filled the ceremony, from the beautiful music of the Horizon String Quartet, which resonated throughout the vaulted ceilings, to the heartfelt exchange of vows, where each promise was spoken with deep sincerity and love. This celebrated their union and the rich tapestry of commitment and devotion surrounding them.

After the ceremony, we headed to the beautiful Colony Club in Detroit for the reception, which was truly spectacular. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, filled with personal touches that reflected the couple’s unique story. One of the highlights was the exquisite wedding cake, creatively designed and adorned with a charming figurine resembling Lucy, perfectly capturing her essence.

As the evening unfolded, heartfelt speeches from family and friends celebrating the couple’s journey together and their bright future ahead. The Colony Club’s elegant setting provided the perfect backdrop for this joyous celebration, making it a night to remember for everyone involved.

As the long-awaited moment arrived, the dance floor sprang to life, transforming the atmosphere of Detroit’s Colony Club wedding into one filled with energy and excitement. The music even got the ring bearer out on the floor!

Before leaving for the night, we took Edmund and Kaitlin outside; these brave souls were willing to return to the rain for one last photo. Thankfully, it did not disappoint. As the rain fell, they looked at each other, shared a kiss, and celebrated everything that had happened on their special day.
