I don’t know how else to say it, Katie and Kevin are awesome. Our consultation was this high-energy, whirlwind of ideas, planning, and decision-making about their wedding. When it came time to plan their engagement shoot, it was much the same, with a slight audible. Originally we planned on visiting both Detroit and Birmingham, two places that have meaning to Katie and Kevin. However, once we got into Detroit we were having so much fun that Kevin threw me the audible. “Take us wherever you think Brian. We love your ideas and eye.” Sweet! Sounds good. I took them to some of my favorite places that I thought would reflect and compliment their personalities – Eastern Market, WSU, and Belle Isle. We started off their Eastern Market Detroit Engagement Session.
We started their engagement shoot in Eastern Market. Katie’s warm personality along with her floral print dress were perfectly complimented by one of my favorite murals in the city. We couldn’t let Katie have all of the fun though, so we played up Kevin with his own “King of Broken Hearts” mural. Eastern Market Detroit Engagement Session
Kevin makes his living in real estate development in Columbus, Ohio. Anyone who has been following Detroit knows that it is on the rebound. He loved the idea of shooting in an abandoned building. I couldn’t tell what he liked more, shooting or dreaming as we perused the building. It was interesting to hear what he would do with that many square feet. Another great Eastern Market Detroit Engagement Session.
After our time in Eastern market, we went to WSU. I didn’t realize until we arrived that Katie attended school there. Much like Kevin and the abandoned building, WSU was the perfect backdrop for Katie since it held so much meaning for her.
Lastly, we headed to Belle Isle. I LOVE this picture. Anyone who can make you laugh like that is worth keeping around. I am excited for these two and what life will bring them. Eastern Market Detroit Engagement Session.
