Gorgeous Chicago Engagement Session
When I first met with Kelly and Nicholas, it was a cold winter afternoon around the holidays. They were in from Chicago, where they both live and work. We met, warmed up over coffee, talked about life, city living, the Cubs, and their upcoming wedding at the International Banquet Center in Detroit. Hours effortlessly passed and by the end of our second cup, we knew we would be working together. As we started to discuss all of the details and how their story would be told, I knew it wouldn’t be complete unless we photographed them in Chicago. With a few rescheduled dates due to rain (it is the Windy City after all), Eric and I finally made it out there and explored the city with them. Chicago offered us so many great places to photograph their engagement session that we ran out of time! Every once in a while, couples will be so into each other that their love and devotion can be both seen and felt. Nicholas and Kelly were one of those couples. A perfect gentleman, from the way the Nicholas looked at her to his moments of silence, Kelly always humbly came first. Their interactions were so intimate that we didn’t even want to interrupt them. I found myself photographing at a distance because their interactions were so real, emotional, gentle, and authentic. I think it shows in the photos. In the end we were able to stroll up Michigan Ave. and stop at Millennium Park, Cloud Gate, before discovering a beautiful garden nestled in the busy city. Finally, we ended up at Buckingham Fountain before packing up and heading back to Detroit. Chicago Engagement Session
