Some love stories seem written by the weather itself, and Sid and Sowmya’s proposal this past Sunday, November 9, 2025, was one of them. What began as a crisp fall day in Detroit, a snowy surprise DIA proposal, quickly turned into an unexpected snowfall, the perfect, magical backdrop for a moment seven and a half years in the making.
Sid, who’s currently attending medical school in Detroit, had been planning this proposal for weeks. Sowmya, visiting from Brooklyn, where she lives, thought she was simply spending the afternoon with family and taking in the beautiful exhibits at the Detroit Institute of Arts. But outside, just beyond the museum’s steps, awaited a surprise that would change everything.
We marked the proposal spot with a single sunflower, a small, bright symbol of their story and the warmth they share even through distance and time apart. As the snow began to swirl more heavily, Sid led Sowmya to that very spot. With laughter in his eyes and snowflakes in his hair, he dropped to one knee and asked her to marry him.
The moment felt timeless. Sowmya’s beautiful smile lit up the snowy scene, her joy radiating as if the whole world had paused just to watch. There were laughs, hugs, and a few happy tears as snowflakes danced around them, capturing the pure excitement of two souls promising forever.

Photographing this proposal was a gift; a rare, romantic day when Detroit turned into a winter wonderland just in time for Sid and Sowmya’s next chapter. Congratulations to this incredible couple! May their love continue to shine as brightly as it did that snowy Sunday.
