Wolcott Mill Engagement Session

I received the email every wedding photographer dreams of.  “Hi Brian!  I love your work and wonder if you have our date available…we are having a destination wedding in Mexico and would love it if you could be our photographer.”  These emails don’t come around too often, so when they do, I try to contain my excitement as best I can until everything is said and done.  I checked the date; I was already booked.  (I will admit, while I am lucky to do what I love, a small part of me died as I saw the gorgeous beach wedding photos drift away.)  I referred Courtney to other photographers who I know would do a great job, wished her the best, and went back to work.  A few days later, I received another email from Courtney.  “Even though you are booked for our wedding, would you consider shooting our engagement session?”  Consider?  I would be honored to.  Wolcott Mill Engagement Session

Courtney and Brad wanted a fall engagement session that highlighted the beauty of Michigan while displaying the beauty that is their relationship.  We decided to shoot at the beautiful Wolcott Mill in Ray, MI.  It is an old historic mill that offers gorgeous backdrops along with some of the best Michigan colors.  Within the first few poses, I knew I was going to love their Wolcott Mill engagement session; they acted like the camera wasn’t even there.  The more we talked and shared stories about ourselves, the more I enjoyed these two.  You know it is a good sign when I leave the session telling the guy, “I think there is a beer with our names on it in the future.”  Even though I am not shooting their destination wedding, I feel like we will be staying in touch and catching up on some things.
