When I asked Lexie what she envisioned for her and Al’s engagement session, she wasn’t exactly sure. I coached her a little bit and asked, “What do you to like to do? What is 100% ‘you’?” She replied by asking if I had ever done an engagement session on a boat? Yes, and it was different and awesome! Boom! Done. Lexie said she wanted to have a Commerce Lake engagement session and visit their favorite sandbar. I loved the idea. I arrived a bit early so we could take some images of just the two of them on dry land before heading out onto the water.
As I clicked the first frame, Lexie burst out into laughter. I knew in that moment that it was going to be a good session. All Lexie needs to have fun is Al. Together, its pure photography magic – genuine laughs and even better memories being made.
Next, it was time to get on the boat and head out for an evening of puttering, libations, and story telling.
As the sun began to set on their Commerce Lake engagement session, it was time to get cozy.
To finish the night, Lexie and Al jumped into the water. Initially, I thought I would balance the sunset with lighting Al and Lexie, but, as the saying goes, “less is more.” Their silhouettes added just enough intrigue and intimacy to the image.
