This year’s wedding season kicked off with David and Jennifer’s Villa Penna’s wedding. High school sweethearts and best friends for nine years, this wedding fulfilled the hopes and dreams of anyone who knew them. The day started off at Jennifer’s parents house. As soon as I walked in the door, I knew I had to use the grand staircase for some images. Talk about a grand entrance! While the house was beautiful, it reflected Jennifer: warm, elegant, and welcoming. Many of the attributes that attracted David to her years ago.
After Jennifer’s hair and makeup was done, it was time to get dressed. Her mom couldn’t stop smiling as her daughter transformed into a bride.
Jennifer was so radiant, I couldn’t help but create a few portraits of her while we had a few moments.
Prior to seeing David, Jennifer shared a first look with her dad. All he could mutter was, “Wow!”
With Jennifer ready, it was time for her and David’s first look. Jennifer was calm and excited on the ride over. She had been waiting for this day since she walked the halls of her high school.
After a few intimate moments, it was time to take some pictures of the two of them. Elliot Tower on Oakland University’s campus served as the perfect backdrop for their formal look. I had shot at Elliot Tower before, but didn’t get a chance to utilize it as much until David and Jennifer’s wedding. I loved the clean lines, soft light, and versatility of the whole area.
Walking back to the limo, I spotted this wall that beautifully complimented Jennifer’s reflection. The sun was harsh, but that didn’t stop Jennifer from embracing her inner model and looking gorgeous against it.
Later, we were joined by the bridal party and toured Oakland University one more time. This time, it was all laughs, all around.
Next, we were ready for the ceremony. David and Jennifer got married at St. Mary of the Hills in Rochester Hills. It was a special ceremony as Jennifer’s Grandpa presided over them as the deacon.
One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is tat I often times get to see things others don’t, like the non-verbal communication that only the couple would understand or remember.
When it was time, Jennifer and David confidently said their vows, dedicating their lives and their love to each other.
After it was official, it was all smiles from these two.
After the ceremony, it was time to celebrate their Villa Penna’s wedding.
Once the dance floor opened up, it remained packed thanks to the good crowd and great music by Elysium Experience. Their Villa Penna’s wedding went late into the night as guest enjoyed themselves and celebrated a wedding that all looked forward to.
