When Jennie from Beautiful Day Planning called me and told me she had a couple who was having a colorful Daxton Hotel wedding, I knew it would be the next level of elegance. All of the ingredients for Carly and Alex’s wedding were exquisite. The chic and modern decor of the Daxton Hotel was accented by a colorful wall of flowers that served as both the ceremony focal point and the backdrop for the head table during the reception. The cool tones of the hotel were warmed by the vibrant uplighting and candlelit tables. Truly, the wedding was an event. An energy filled the room and guests mingled with friends, family, and acquaintances. By the end of the night, we didn’t want to leave. The live music by E3 Detroit’s First Call kept the dance floor packed and guests dancing. Needless to say; it was a night to remember.

Perhaps I am getting ahead of myself. I do that sometimes after spending so much time with curating the images of the wedding to tell the couple’s story. Carly and Alex’s story, however, begins long before their wedding. It actually begins in high school. They met at the prestigious Cranbrook Institute, which is where we decided to visit for their engagement shoot. From the first photos of their engagement session, I began looking forward to their Daxton Hotel wedding. Carly and Alex compliment each other, put each other at ease, and bring out the best in each other. It was easy to see their “happy place” with in the presence of each other. The smiles, love, and enjoyment they shared during their engagement session was just a preview of the experience they would have on their wedding day.
Carly got ready at the Daxton Hotel with the help of her mom, sister, and friends. It was a fun-filled morning with stories, love, and laughter filling the air.
Meanwhile, Alex got ready at his house…not before a few tense games of Mario Kart. His groomsmen may have went easy on him; I am pretty sure Alex won.
As both Alex and Carly were putting the finishing touches on their outfits, Kevin from Twigs and Branches was putting the finishing touches on the ceremony space. Even the entryway to the Daxton left an impression. The ceremony site was filled with guests eager to see the bride and celebrate the people the love.
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour while Carly and Alex took some formals with family. They also snuck away for a few photos of just the two of them as well.
The crew at the Daxton did an incredible job flipping the room and getting it ready for a fun-filled night of festivities. Every detail of the decor was perfect.
One of the most rewarding and satisfying aspects of the day is seeing the bride and groom fully immersed in moment. Carly never stopped smiling throughout her reception. She and Alex were ready to party.
Carly and Alex wowwed their guests with a complex, choreographed dance that literally had some guests on their feet, showering them with applause.
Carly and her dad had a little fun trick up their sleeve to open up the dance floor an invite guests onto it. It didn’t take long before the dance floor was flooded with guests. It was going to be an epic Daxton Hotel wedding.
