Detroit Colony Club Wedding

It was a brisk, breezy October evening. The sun had long set and I sat, bundled up, at a picnic table outside of a church-turned-brewery in Grosse Pointe. I had spoken on the phone with Megan about her wedding. Her enthusiasm for the day was palpable. She had a vision for the day and it incorporated many of my favorite locations in Detroit: wedding prep at the Westin Book Cadillac, followed by a ceremony at Saints Peter and Paul Jesuit Church, and ending the festivities with a Detroit Colony Club wedding reception. Like Megan, I shared her enthusiasm for what would be a beautiful wedding.

Soon, Megan and Jonathan joined, along with their dog, Chance. It would be easy to be intimidated by Chance’s size, but any sort of worry or concern was quickly dissolved when you realize how friendly he is. Chance and I quickly became friends. As we sat and talked over a local brew, I grew more and more excited for their day. Not only was it going to be a beautiful wedding; it was going to celebrate a beautiful couple.

Megan and Jonathan’s wedding was filled with emotional moments from the very start. To make it the family official, Jonathan surprised Megan with adoption papers for their dog Chance. She happily agreed.

With everyone ready and looking their best, we headed to Saints Peter and Paul Jesuit Church for the ceremony.

As the sun began to set, we headed to their Detroit Colony Club wedding reception. Before guests joined us, we snuck into the ballroom for a few intimate photos.
