When Cameron reached out, he knew exactly what he wanted: a Detroit Institute of Arts proposal for his beautiful girlfriend Sara. He saw several of my other proposals at the iconic venue and loved the simplicity and elegance of the marble facade. We scheduled a walk through at the Detroit Institute of Arts and met at the designated spot. Cameron was excited and told me how he has Sara thinking they are having a nice afternoon downtown – a stroll through the DIA, followed by dinner and Christmas lights in the city.
The next day, Becky and I arrived early and set up. It called for rain in the morning, but as the proposal time approached, it kept sprinkling. With minutes to spare, the rain finally let up, just before Cameron and Sara walked across the archways. Cameron paused, held Sara’s hand, and began talking to her. Her confusion quickly turned into emotions of disbelief and joy and Cameron went down on a knee. He pulled out a pouch, then a ring, and finally asked, “Will you marry me?” Wiping away some tears, Sara said “yes.”
Sara’s hands were literally shaking. She couldn’t believe what just happened, nor how beautiful her ring was.
After a few minutes of letting Cameron and Sara soak it all in, we took some photos to commemorate their Detroit Institute of Arts proposal.
That smile! Sara was all smiles long after the proposal happened. Even after we walked around the DIA, her hands were still shaking with excitement.
With Detroit’s holiday spirit in full swing, we stopped by a very festive Parker’s Alley for one last set of photos. The overhead lights and decorated trees can put anyone in the holiday spirit.
Despite it being busy, Sara and Cameron found a few secluded spots for a little alone time.
