Detroit Public Library Engagement Session

Sean and Ilissa showed us some of their favorite spots downtown during their Detroit Public Library Engagement Session.

We first met Ilissa and Sean in October 2023 at the wedding of their friends, Lauren and Jake. They were in the wedding party and we had the opportunity to work with them firsthand. In April, Ilissa contacted us about photographing their wedding in September 2025. We met up in downtown Birmingham and while waiting for them, I told Brian how much it meant to me that they remembered us from the previous wedding and wanted to hire us for theirs. When they arrived, we had a great discussion about their big day, and it didn’t take long to decide that we would be their wedding photographers. We were thrilled about the opportunity!

Sean and Ilissa, who reside in downtown Detroit, were eager to schedule their engagement session in their beloved city. It was an obvious choice for us to capture their special moments in Detroit’s vibrant and dynamic surroundings. When we arrived at the Detroit Public Library for their engagement session, Ilissa and Sean made a striking impression with their attire. As we started taking their photos, it was evident how at ease they were with each other. The first photo speaks volumes – their chemistry truly shines through. Don’t worry; it’s not only the first photo but all of them. These two were just a delight to photograph!

After our time at the Detroit Public Library, we decided to switch things up. Ilissa and Sean changed into more casual attire, and we strolled over to Parker’s Alley to capture some relaxed photographs. The series of images we took in the alley are vibrant and lively. I particularly adore how the cityscape seamlessly integrates with the playful lights and colors of the alleyway.

These photos exude an energetic and carefree atmosphere, making it difficult for Ilissa and Sean to choose their favorite shots for their “save the date” cards. Good luck choosing guys, and I can’t wait until your wedding; we will have so much fun!
