Andy and Sarah’s Gem Theatre Wedding Downtown Detroit

It was a day that many were waiting for – Andy and Sarah’s wedding day. There were so many moving parts and special elements to their wedding, it was fun to see it all come together like a choreographed dance. I can’t go any further without giving Kate McClellan from Purple Clover Events a big shoutout for helping make this day run so smoothly. Sarah and Andy also played a big role in making it all happen as well with excellent communication and ideas while being flexible in the implementation of it all.

The day began with Sarah getting ready at Greektown Casino in Greektown, Detroit. I love how her shoes were not only a fashion statement, but also a reflection of her; they matched her necklace and earrings, which showed the spectrum of our solar system. (I may be butchering that scientific fact. Science wasn’t exactly my strong suit in school.)

Before their Gem Theatre wedding Downtown Detroit, Sarah and Andy shared a first look at the Detroit City Distillery in Eastern Market. The crew there was totally cool with us dropping by and creating this moment for the couple.

After a few moments in Detroit City Distillery, we rounded the corner and used some of Eastern Market’s famous murals as a backdrop for their portraits.

Once our photo session wound down, we headed over to their Gem Theatre wedding Downtown Detroit. Andy is a theatre lighting specialist. With the help of his friends and groomsmen, he put on a special show, starting with his daughter “lighting” the path which would flow into the stage and turn on various ambient and accent lights on the stage. You could literally hear “ooo’s” as the lighting effects unfolded.

Following the theme of space and the universe, Erin from Bella e Dolce made an incredible cake.

The speeches were so heartfelt. Andy’s daughter surprised everyone by getting up to say a few words. Her words were beautiful, moving, and telling. There wasn’t a dry eye as she spoke and told of their collective journey.

Finally, with a toast from Andy, it was time to celebrate and party.
