Mabel Gray – Hazel Park Engagement

Anytime I talk with couples about photographing their engagement, I always start out with the same question: “What is an important place to you?”  Places have meaning.  I know that I will always look at the Petoskey Pier, where I proposed, in a special light now.  All of my favorite memories are tied to specific locations.  When Kathleen quickly responded that Mabel Gray, a chic and acclaimed restaurant in Hazel Park was important to her, I knew there was more of a story to it.  As it turns out, Aaron proposed to Kathleen outside of the restaurant after enjoying a romantic meal.  Coming back to Mabel Gray for their engagement session was an opportunity to relive those memories.  What better place to celebrate their love and relationship, than where it all started?  Join us for Aaron and Kathleen’s Mabel Gray engagement session. 

Things quickly became fun.  As soon as we settled in and opened the bottle of champagne, it decided to overflow!  Aaron’s look is pretty priceless.

The crew was kind enough to open up the restaurant early just for us, allowing us to capture these intimate shots and highlight the warmth of the restaurant.

As I was looking around the restaurant for inspiration to shoot, I was drawn to its eclectic decor.  I loved this hanging quilt and decided to use it as a backdrop.

Like an hourglass, as the rest of the champagne poured out the bottle, our time at Mabel Gray was up.  It was the perfect start to our Sunday, revisiting where Aaron proposed and capturing their love and relationship in the process.  After our time here, we went downtown for a few more shots at the DIA; however, I am going to end their story here.  It is  truly unique, just like them.  Thanks for reading about Aaron and Kathleen’s Mabel Gray engagement session.
