Maternity Session at Ford Field

Some maternity sessions are beautiful because of the location. Others are beautiful because of the story behind them. Jillian and Ratnesh’s maternity session at Ford Field was both.

We’ve had the privilege of photographing Jillian and Ratnesh for the past few years, so documenting this next chapter in their lives felt especially meaningful to us. When it came time to plan their maternity session, they knew they wanted to make it personal: something that reflected who they are and what they love.

For Jillian and Ratnesh, that meant the Detroit Lions. Football has been part of their family for years, with season tickets that have been passed down through generations. It’s more than simply being Lions fans; it’s a tradition, a shared experience, and a favorite way to spend time together. So instead of a traditional maternity session, they chose to celebrate this exciting season of life somewhere that already holds so many memories: Ford Field.

Having the opportunity to step onto the field and experience Ford Field from a completely different perspective made the session feel even more special. Jillian and Ratnesh walked the field together, celebrated this baby on the way, and enjoyed a rare close-up view of a place that has been such an important part of their lives.

And, of course, there was a little Lions pride woven throughout the session, including their jerseys and a very special glimpse at the newest member of the family, who is due to arrive in October. Baby’s gender remains a surprise, making this season of anticipation even more exciting.

After photographing their story for several years, it was incredibly special for us to document Jillian and Ratnesh as they prepare to become parents. From the moments we’ve captured together before to this new chapter, their relationship with us has grown right alongside their story.

We can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings and to meet someday the little Lions fan who already has a season-ticket-worthy place in the family.
