Pumpkin Patch Proposal

After a pitstop for some cider and donuts, we found the perfect spot for Sean’s pumpkin patch proposal to Tori at Blake’s Orchards in South Lyon.

Becky walked up to me looking almost confused. “Did Sean reach out to you?”

“No, not yet” I answered. “Why?”

Becky raised her eyebrows and stared at me with a slight smile in the corner of her lips. “Oh!” I said.

“Don’t say anything,” she told me as we walked back into the family party.

Sean’s plans to propose to Tori were months in the making. Custom designed engagement band, check. Perfect diamond solitaire, check. Tori’s favorite location and fall activity, check check. All that was left was putting it all together. While Tori was out of town, Becky and I drove out to Blake’s Apple Orchard in South Lyon. After stopping for some cider and donuts…because, you are not going to NOT get cider and donuts at an apple orchard…we rode the wagon out to the corner of the property and scouted for the perfect spot for a pumpkin patch proposal. We picked the corner of the patch to provide us with the most amount of privacy and the least amount of people. The nearby apple trees would be the perfect spot for Sean to hide while Tori’s friends, Arianna and Mo, would bring her into the pumpkin patch. Becky and I would be bystanders, leaning over pumpkins, looking for the perfect one to bring home. The scene was set for a memorable pumpkin patch proposal.

We arrived to the patch early and found Sean, relaxed and casual, waiting in the area of the proposal. We had over 30 minutes to kill, so we walked through the pumpkin patch proposal one more time, dialed in our cameras, and then waited. In the meantime, becky and Sean shared stories and excitement for what was to come.

Once Ari texted us that they were on the wagon, Sean got in place.

Once Tori and her friends arrived at the patch, they strolled through the patch, one time getting uncomfortably close to Becky and I as we tried to blend in. Luckily, Ari brought her back toward the corner of the patch, where Sean approached her to Tori’s surprise, saying “I hear they have nice pumpkins here.” Her emotions quickly went from surprise to joy as Sean immediately took a knee. The moment she had been hoping for was unfolding before her eyes: Sean was about to propose.

If you have read any of my other proposal blogs, you know I talk a lot about the wild ride of emotions that unfold. It was so touching to see all of Tori’s emotions, from confusion to surprise, and excitement to disbelief. Tori seeing the ring brought its own spectrum of emotions. It was awesome to witness and capture them.

Tori knew her friends were in on it. What she didn’t know was that she also had two more friends in the pumpkin patch photographing it all!

Of course, you have to show off the ring!

After some story telling, ring admiration, and celebrating, we marked this momentous occasion with an engagement shoot.

It isn’t often Becky and I step in front of the camera. Our job is to celebrate the couple. However, when the couple is family, you can’t help but love and be excited for them. We wanted a photo to remember this special occasion in our lives as well.

Following the pumpkin patch proposal, Sean had a few more surprises waiting for Tori when they got home: 25 friends and family members waiting to celebrate. The day, the proposal, the ring, and the celebrations were all picture perfect. Best wishes you two and thank you for allowing Becky and I to be a part of it.
