Last month, Abbey and Jeff spent the day celebrating their love and wedding at The Dearborn Inn. It was THE PERFECT winter day – freshly fallen snow, no breeze with the sun poking out at times, and a beautiful and happy couple. Their wedding day had all of the right ingredients: beautiful backdrops at the Dearborn Inn, an emotional first look with the father of the bride, a long and memorable first look with the groom, a fun wedding party, an emotional wedding ceremony, and a packed dance floor. I am so honored to return to photograph another Dearborn Inn wedding.
Abbey’s wedding details were gorgeous. She braved the cold in her heels and donned a stunning wedding dress.
To say the bridal prep was fun is an understatement. Naturally, it was a bit chaotic, but that is half of the fun, right?
With some help from her bridesmaids, Abbey got ready into her dress. I couldn’t help but to take a few portraits of her once she was ready. The south-facing single window provided just enough light to highlight Abbey’s wedding dress.
Abbey wanted to have a first look with her dad prior to seeing Jeffrey for the first time. It was a touching moment with both her and her dad shedding a tear.
I can’t emphasize enough how perfect of a day it was. Michigan winters can be cold and brutal. The Dearborn Inn was blanked with fresh snow and there was no wind to disrupt their perfect first look moment. I shot several weddings at the Dearborn Inn, but this was the perfect Dearborn Inn wedding.
When we were planning their wedding, we communicated greatly about their priorities on their wedding day. Abbey loves photography and gave me an ample time to shoot at the Dearborn Inn and be creative. Because the day flowed so smoothly, I was able to slow down and shoot with the Nikon 45mm PC tilt-shift lens. It takes some time to shoot with since it is all manual; however, the dreamy effects of it were a perfect addition to their portfolio. It was also the perfect Dearborn Inn wedding.
The wedding reception details at the Dearborn Inn were flawless. Inspired by the winter, blue and silver accents transformed the room while tall vases with floating candles warmed the atmosphere.
The Dearborn Inn also hosted their ceremony, allowing guests to flow from the ceremony to cocktail hour, and finally the reception without any disruptions. It was a winter-themed Dearborn Inn wedding.
Lastly, one of my favorite touches of the day was the falling snow during Abbey and Jeff’s first dance. It was a unique touch that only added to the ambiance of their winter-themed Dearborn Inn wedding.
