When I left Detroit, we were having record low temperatures (think -25 degrees). You could imagine my disbelief when Annie picked me up from the Denver airport wearing jeans and a t-shirt…in February. Colorado was having an unseasonably warm winter. The forecast for the week was in the 50s with no sign of winter anywhere. Needless to say, I was disappointed. I anticipated an endless number of landscapes and snowcapped mountains to serve as my backdrops. Instead, I was met with dry grass and brown stone. As fate would have it, mother nature dumped 8 inches of fresh snow two days into the trip. I grabbed my gear and we started working. Our shoot started at Chautauqua Park, right outside of Boulder. The Flatirons were the perfect backdrop. From there, we headed up to the Flagstaff Amphitheater and hiked in through nearly a foot of snow. We had the place to ourselves and took a moment to drink in the beauty. Nate serenaded us with a song that he wrote for Annie and I turned the video on (edits to come). By the time our shoot was wrapping up, the sun was setting and I knew I had a portfolio they would love.
