Gem Theatre Proposal

When Franz decided to propose to his longtime girlfriend Vivien, he wanted it to be romantic, elegant, and have a personal touch of a musical element with him serenading her. Franz, a fellow creative, found the GEM Theatre to be a perfect fit: soft, ambient lighting with old world charm and a stage to perform on, it was the perfect spot for him to propose. So, on September 11, 2024, Franz popped the question to Vivien at his GEM Theatre proposal.

Franz suggested we meet at the GEM Theatre to capture a fictitious couple getting engaged. Brian and I were responsible for photographing the couple, while Vivien and Franz were responsible for videography. Franz asked Vivien to dress up and meet us in the afternoon, to capture this event.

Brian and I arrived early to set up, and Franz joined us a bit later because he had forgotten the ring at home! Cool, calm, and laughing about the situation, Franz made it back in time. Vivien was last to arrive, and after chatting and catching up with her, we asked her to sit to test the lighting before “Jake and Stephanie” we were supposed to photograph arrived at the theatre. Vivien took her seat on stage, we tested the light, and then Franz walked over and sat beside her with his guitar. After the shock and a few laughs, he started to sing as she was putting the pieces together.

After performing a heartfelt serenade, Franz gently set his guitar aside and knelt down on one knee to ask for Vivien’s hand in marriage. The air was filled with a mix of surprise, tears, joy, and, ultimately, an exuberant “YES!”

After the initial excitement subsided, we took a few portraits on stage, the perfect setting for this memorable moment. Then, we moved to another room in the GEM, where Franz had planned to surprise Vivien with champagne and another musical treat: playing the piano for her. With the sun shining in, Vivien admired the moment, her future husband, and her beautiful new engagement ring.

We proceeded to the upper level of the GEM Theatre, where the plush theater seats awaited, capturing more moments of their joy and celebration on the special day.

Afterward, we stepped outside to capture a few additional photos to mark the occasion of their GEM Theatre proposal. This couple’s genuine connection made immortalizing their love in these moments effortless.
