If there were two words to summarize everything about Kristi, Brandon, and this shoot, it would be serendipity and enthusiastic. Grosse Pointe Academy Engagement Session
Kristi and I met serendipitously. She was a guest at one of the weddings I attended. We sat at the same table during dinner and shared photography stories, lessons, tips, etc. The conversation wasn’t your usual surface level discussion; she was passionate about photography, weddings, and even my work. Kristi studied photography in college and wanted to take her own work to the next level. What sealed the deal for our friendship was the moment, later on in the night, after I had got all of the shots I needed, I asked Kristi if she wanted to try some of my gear while I stood next to her and explained how I shoot. Her reaction was like a kid on Christmas getting the present of their dreams! I don’t think I have ever seen someone have so much fun taking photos. After that, we kept in touch and she even assisted me on one of my weddings. A few years later, I got the email: “I’m engaged!” I couldn’t be happier for her. Grosse Pointe Academy Engagement Session
Fast forward two years, Brandon took Kristi to her favorite place for her favorite date: a Red Wings hockey game. Brandon and Kristi met at work and went to a Wings game for their first date. Despite their agreement to just be friends, the draw was too strong and the fun was too much. The Wings hold a special spot in their relationships, so it seemed like the perfect spot to visit where is all began. Grosse Pointe Academy Engagement Session
They arrived early and enjoyed a few laps around the ice during open skate. As if that wasn’t enough to make every hockey girl’s dream come true, Brandon slowed down, pulled Kristi to the center ice, and proposed. With a giddy squirm and enthusiastic bearhug, she said “yes!” and fell into Brandon’s arms.
Kristi wanted a winter engagement and always loved the look of the Grosse Pointe Academy. I do too. Its architecture is classic and always inspires me. Before the session was over, we stopped by the War Memorial, another one of Grosse Pointe’s gems and snapped a few more pics before the cold made us stop. They were the perfect backdrops for their engagement session.
