Grosse Pointe War Memorial Wedding
When Lauren called me up asking if I had her wedding date available, I calmly said, “one second…let me check.” I put the phone on mute, clutched my hands together in prayer, and checked my calendar. “YES!” as I pumped my arm back and forth like a piston. I knew Lauren and Troy’s wedding was going to be almost magical – a warm and gorgeous couple whose love story was long and anticipated, a beautiful venue, and a few surprises to help make the day special – I am so fortunate to be able to photograph it.

Lauren and her sisters got ready at Detroit’s classic Westin Book Cadillac hotel. I love this hotel and the generous and unique public spaces that it offers. It is the perfect spot for brides to get ready at on their wedding day. I *may* be a little biased though; I did get married here!
With the help of her sisters, Lauren got ready for her wedding.
I love the clean and classic architecture that the Westin provides. It is the perfect look for an elegant bride.
After she was ready, it was time for a first look with her dad.
With Lauren all set, we drove up Jefferson to meet with Troy at the War Memorial. We found him laughing and hanging out with his groomsmen, eager to get the day going and see his bride.
It isn’t often that I say this, but Troy is truly a gentleman. Having met and gotten to know him a bit during their engagement session, I was impressed with him and his demeanor. When it came time for his photos, I wanted to create an image that fit his personality.
Once Lauren arrived for her Grosse Pointe War Memorial wedding, it was almost time for her first look. But first, while she waited for everything to take place, Troy had a special gift for her.
Finally, it was time for them to see each other. Much to Troy’s surprise, Lauren rented Beau, a 1940 Packard from Motor City Vintage Rentals. I love touched like this.
We had just enough time in the day to take Beau for a little joyride. Taking time for yourself on your wedding day is so important. It allows you to slow down, be present, and think about the commitment that you are about to make. I always encourage couples schedule some alone time on their wedding day. And if you happen to be riding in a classic car like Beau while you enjoy it, so be it!
Once back, we were getting ready for their Grosse Pointe War Memorial wedding.
As guests started to arrive, we retreated to the bridal suite of the War Memorial.
The fall weather was perfect for Lauren and Troy’s Grosse Pointe Memorial wedding. They held it outdoors, with the War Memorial as their backdrop.
With the sun beginning to set, we headed inside for their reception.
Nicholas from Elysium Experience kept the dance floor packed and the fun flowing.
I almost forgot – shout out to Lisa with LG Event Design for designing, planning, and executing this dream wedding! I have worked with Lisa in the past and have never been disappointed. Great job Lisa!
