Michelle and Kenny’s Most Holy Trinity, Detroit Wedding.
Can we be honest for a second?
Wedding planning can be stressful. Hundreds of decisions, details, and days exist between the moment you say “yes” to the proposal and “I do” at the altar. Add on top of that the ever-changing expectations around social distancing and everyone’s comfort level during these times of covid, and needless to say, weddings can feel more like a task to complete than a celebration worth looking forward to. No one wants to feel that; no one deserves it either. If there is ever one day to just be fully present physically, emotionally, and mentally, it is your wedding day.
It didn’t take long for the day to feel like a celebration. As soon as Michelle put her dress on, she was all smiles and rightfully so: she looked stunning. With each special person in her life that she saw – first her mom, then her dad, then her groom – he smile grew wider and wider. I was so happy to see Michelle fully embrace and enjoy her wedding day.
Michelle got ready at the Dearborn Inn and later had her ceremony at the beautiful Most Holy Trinity in Detroit.
Michelle shared a first look with her dad, a beautiful and special moment for both of them.
The Dearborn Inn is one of my favorite places in Metro Detroit for a wedding. The grounds are beautiful and I am always inspired when I shoot here. What struck me this time was how empty the lobby was. It is never empty! Having this rare opportunity, I knew I had to shoot it in a way that I never had before.
After Michelle was ready, we headed over to the church to start their Most Holy Trinity Detroit wedding. Kenny was waiting excitedly and patiently. With the help of his Best Man, Kenny put on the finishing touches and was ready to see his bride.
It sounds like such a small detail, but it actually makes a big difference: I loved that guests could actually see Michelle and Kenny during their church service. Commonly, the bride and groom face the altar throughout the entire ceremony. However, Michelle and Kenny faced the congregation, allowing for moments like this to be captured.
After their Most Holy Trinity Detroit wedding ceremony, we went back to the Dearborn Inn for a few more photos.
It was a hot and humid afternoon for Kenny and Michelle’s photos but that didn’t seem to phase them. With each other, they were happy as can be.
As the evening came upon us, it was time to celebrate. Guests met at Andiamo where Michelle and Kenny shared a dance, along with Michelle and her dad. Words were said, memories were shared, and love was spread as guests helped Michelle and Kenny celebrate their marriage.
