How Thomas Surprised Wendy with a Dream Proposal at Cranbrook Gardens

Sunday, May 10th, Mother’s Day, became a day Thomas and Wendy will remember for the rest of their lives. Set against the timeless beauty of Cranbrook Gardens, Thomas planned an unforgettable surprise proposal for the woman he loves, blending family meaning, thoughtful intention, and pure emotion into one incredible afternoon.

Although Thomas currently lives in Brooklyn, he is a proud Michigan native, and choosing Cranbrook Gardens for the proposal felt personal. With much of his family living in Michigan, and many memories tied closely to the gardens, he knew there was no better place to begin this next chapter with Wendy.

When the couple arrived at the gardens, Wendy immediately sensed something was a little unusual. After all, it was Mother’s Day, and she couldn’t quite understand why they weren’t spending the afternoon celebrating with Thomas’ mom and sister. Naturally curious, she continued asking questions as they walked through the gardens together. Thomas, determined to protect the surprise, did his best to dodge every question and casually redirect the conversation as he led her toward the proposal location.

As they stood overlooking the beautiful reflecting pool, Thomas finally dropped to one knee. The look on Wendy’s face said absolutely everything. Complete shock, overwhelming joy, and pure love all appeared at once. She instantly covered her face in disbelief, visibly shaking from excitement as Thomas opened the ring box and asked her to marry him.  

Shortly after the proposal, Thomas’ family arrived at the gardens to celebrate alongside the newly engaged couple. It was such a heartfelt moment watching everyone embrace Wendy, share hugs, happy tears, and excitement as they officially welcomed her into the family. The group spent time taking photos together throughout the gardens, soaking in every joyful moment of the afternoon.

The entire celebration felt incredibly meaningful,  not only because of the engagement itself but also because it happened on Mother’s Day, surrounded by family, love, and new beginnings. It was truly a joyous Mother’s Day celebration and such a beautiful reminder of what matters most.

From tears to laughter, and every emotional moment in between, it was truly an honor to document such an incredible proposal story. Thomas and Wendy’s love was undeniable, and witnessing the beginning of their engagement surrounded by the beauty of Cranbrook Gardens made the day even more magical. Moments like these are exactly why we love what we do.
