A Surprise Proposal on the Shores of Oscoda | Max & Sydney

Some love stories come full circle in the most beautiful way—and Max & Sydney’s proposal was one of those moments we’ll never forget. A few months ago, Max gave us a call with excitement in his voice and a spark of an idea. He wanted to propose to Sydney but hadn’t quite nailed down the “how” or “where.” Fast forward to last week: Max called again, this time with a little urgency (and his signature laugh). Their summer was quickly filling up, and the window for a surprise was closing fast. “Any chance you’ll be in Oscoda on Friday?” he asked. Our answer? “We wouldn’t be anywhere else.”

Max had the ring and the plan—well, sort of. He kept Sydney on her toes with a bit of misdirection. First, she thought they were headed to a corporate dinner. Then, maybe a surprise weekend in Chicago? But instead, Max brought her somewhere far more meaningful: the very place they first said “I love you.” Shady Shores was the perfect location for this memorable moment.

With Lake Huron as their backdrop and emotions running high, Max dropped to one knee and asked Sydney to be his forever. Her answer? “A million times yes.”
