Shinola Proposal

The Moore family has been part of BWP for years. From Tim and Emily’s wedding proposal to Meredith and Matthew’s wedding the year before, we have been fortunate to document some of the most memorable milestones in their lives. So when Evan reached out to propose to his longtime girlfriend, Katie, it felt like a full-circle moment for us. Their Shinola proposal was nothing short of magic, a true success!

We met with Evan on a brisk evening in the first week of January to find the perfect proposal location throughout the city. He mentioned that he and Katie have a date night every Friday where they explore a new restaurant or bar. With plans to propose and an after-party at the Lone Goat, he wanted a location nearby that wouldn’t raise any suspicions with Katie. After walking by the Shinola Hotel and cutting through Parker’s Alley, Evan decided that the spot we found was just right.

We arrived downtown on a Friday evening in January with our camera gear ready to capture Evan and Katie’s proposal. As usual, we arrived early, which was fortunate because Evan arrived just minutes later, hand in hand with Katie. He took a knee, extending his hand and his love toward her. Katie responded with laughter, tears, and a heartfelt “yes!”

After their Shinola proposal, Katie noticed we were present. It was a genuine moment, and as Katie said, it makes sense that you guys are here! LOL, we strolled around with them for a little engagement session.

After their engagement session, we headed to the Lone Goat to capture their surprise engagement party. Friends and family were already there, awaiting their arrival with balloons, cake, champagne, and gifts for the newly engaged couple. Though surprised, Katie showed off her new ring and celebrated with her closest loved ones!

As the initial shock faded, cocktails and toasts were shared to celebrate the newly engaged couple. The evening was a wonderful celebration of their love. Congratulations, Katie and Evan!
