Wedding at the Henry Ford Museum
I have been fortunate enough to know Sarah for a few years before she got married as one of the instructors of a local dance studio. Being a professional trained ballerina, she always conducted herself with poise, elegance, and grace. When she called me to talk about the possibility of shooting her wedding, I knew that her wedding would be a perfect reflection of herself. Sarah and Stephen celebrated their ceremony at St. Paul of Tarsus in Clinton Township, a beautiful Catholic church with plenty of ambient light, and their wedding reception at the Henry Ford Museum. Sarah’s day started off perfectly. Surrounded by family and friends in her childhood home, outbursts of laughter filled the family room below while I photographed the detail shots upstairs. The vibe of the bridal prep often times serves as an indictor of the energy level the rest of the day. Needless to say, I knew it was going to be a fun day celebrating with this crowd. Sarah and Stephen opted to not do a first look and instead, keep things traditional as she walked down the aisle. Seeing Sarah’s smile as she rounded the corner into the aisle was a telling sign of her excitement not only for the wedding, but the marriage. Sarah had a wedding at the Henry Ford Museum.
With every wedding, I have a favorite photo from the day. A photo that I know I will keep in the back of my mind for years that either I am very proud of or it perfectly tells the story of a moment. Sarah an Stephen’s wedding had many of those photos and moments, but this image of Sarah consoling her mom after she just got married will always be one of my favorites. It isn’t often people are publicly vulnerable, but when they are, it makes for a real image of a real moment. More photos of the Wedding at the Henry Ford Museum.
After the ceremony, we went to the Henry Ford Museum to begin the celebration. The Henry Ford Museum and the accompanying Lovett Hall is one of my favorite venues to photograph. From the classic architecture to the meticulously maintained grounds, I have never been uninspired. Instead, I always feel like I need more time to shoot more! I know I haven’t exhausted my creativity at this venue; it is just that inspiring.
