Country Club of Detroit Wedding

A few weeks before Sarah and Chris’s wedding, I met with Sarah to go over the details. In short, it was going to be beautiful and memorable! Every detail about their day was thought of. Every ingredient was the best Detroit had to offer. The church, Christ Church Grosse Pointe, was breathtaking. Their Country Club of Detroit wedding reception was going to be a party with live music, a bonfire, and a view to remember. To say I was excited to be a part of their day is an understatement; I knew we would be capturing memories and creating art.

The nice thing about a country club wedding is nearly every aspect of the wedding happens on the grounds. Country Club of Detroit weddings are no different and offer a variety of beautiful backdrops for every part of the wedding day. Both Chris and Sarah got ready at the CCD and shared a first look there before heading to Christ Church Grosse Pointe for their ceremony.

Chris was the first to get ready with the help of his best man. When we arrived, all of the guys were relaxing in the French Room, ready to go. Once Chris was fully dressed, the groomsmen joined him for a few pics.

While Chris was wrapping up his prep, Sarah was ready to get dressed. Her mom and twin sister, Kelly, were there to help. On the hanger, her dress was beautiful. Once Sarah put it on, it became a statement of elegance.

I found her dress and poise to be so beautiful, I couldn’t help but ask for a quick shoot to highlight them both. Sarah looked like she just walked out of a catalog.

One of the things I loved about Sarah and Chris’s wedding was the number of special moments she planned throughout her day. The first was a first look with her bridesmaids. Needless to say, they approved of what they saw.

Next, Sarah planned a special first look with her dad. He too loved the way she looked.

Finally, it was Chris’s turn to see his bride. Sarah was visibly excited, almost nervous, to see Chris. Once she saw Chris though, it was all smiles and just excitement to be with her best friend.

I love this picture because I have seen this moment, this feeling before: his whole world, his future, in his arms.

After Sarah and Chris shared a their first look, it was time to take some photos of them around the CCD.

Did I mention that Sarah looked like she belongs in a bridal catalog?

There are so many beautiful pockets to photograph at a Country Club of Detroit wedding, I love it. I never run out of ideas here.

While Chris and Sarah wrapped up their formals, the bridal party joined us for some photos.

Next, we headed to Christ Church Grosse Pointe for their ceremony. Sarah and Chris rode in style, thanks to “Hamilton” the 1941 Packard, compliments of Motor City Vintage Rentals. What an incredible way to elevate your day, your experience, and your photos.

As Sarah and Chris returned to their Country Club of Detroit wedding reception, we showcased all things classic before they joined guests for the cocktail hour.

After Sarah and Chris cut the cake, guests were invited inside for dinner and toasts.

Sarah and Chris snuck out towards the end of their meal to snag the last minutes of the golden hour. The light pouring across the open greens and fairways was magical. You cannot go wrong stepping away to enjoy a few quiet moments during your wedding day.

With dinner complete, guests were ready to party. But first, Sarah and Chris shared a dance before opening up the dancefloor.

It didn’t take long for guests to flood the dance floor. As we were packing up our truck, the sounds of the band filled the air and bonfire smoke wafted over the parking lot. Becky and I sank into our seats and looked at each other before turning the ignition. Without saying a word, we spoke. We knew we had a great portfolio and everyone at CCD had a great night ahead of them.
